Garden Furniture Covers

Garden furniture covers are used to protect your garden furniture in all kinds of weather. Despite garden furniture being sold for outdoor use it does not mean that it is suitable for leaving it there uncovered. How your furniture will cope is determined on a few aspects, these include what climate you live in, what the furniture is made of and how much time you are prepared to dedicate to looking after it.

No materials other than stone or steel can realistically handle temperatures from below 20c and above 30c, in some countries the temperature can vary dramatically and this can cause rapid deterioration of your garden furniture. If you have a wooden table it may even soak up any water and when it does this it can actually cause it to expand and also contract. Plastic tables differ as they often become very brittle in strong sunlight and in hot climates will not last very long without beginning to perish. By choosing a hardwood table you are less likely to see it expand or perish however it will begin to lose its natural oils which means you will need to replenish them on a regular basis.

Garden Covers

A garden bench cover is extremely important in order to protect the garden bench from the damage such as dryness, water damage and warping.

Protect your garden table from the weather all year with a table cover. You can cover the whole set, the table and the chairs, with one cover or you can cover the table and the chairs separately.

Garden chairs are subject to damage all year round therefore you should really cover them when they are not use in order to offer them the best chance of survival at all times.

A parasol cover is ideal if you want to leave the garden parasol outside. This will protect the parasol from bad weather and avoid any dirt collecting on the parasol.

A patio heater cover will stop dirt, dust and water from getting access to the heater. This can cause a lot of damage to the heater which can be expensive to repair.

Garden Furniture Cover

For home owners which have a shed, which is also commonly referred to as a hut, then it is strongly advised that you store any light weight garden furniture in it in order to protect it from various weather conditions. For heavy furniture it will not always be realistic to cart furniture in and out of the shed however in seasons where the garden furniture is not readily used it may be an idea to do so.

In the event you do not have a garden shed or do not wish to store your furniture in one then you may wish to purchase some garden furniture covers. The furniture covers help to protect the materials from the worst of the weather conditions, you will still need to do regular furniture maintenance but it will prevent a lot of wear and tear. Always purchase a cover which is highly UV tolerant and make sure it is a lose fit in order to allow a little air flow, this is extremely important for timber furniture which is subject to mould, mildew and at times rot that can occur when through condensation or the furniture sweating.

You should look for a garden furniture cover that will stay fixed to the furniture in high winds, many covers available have either an elasticated edge or ribbons and ties to do this. You must be confident that the ties will not be rot or the elastic will not end up stretching as this may cause the cover to fly away in severe weather conditions. Any cushions that you have for your furniture can be kept under the cover or where applicable put in the pockets of the furniture cover. There are a wide range of cover colours available to pick therefore pick one which compliments your garden as if the weather does not improve you may see it on the furniture rather a lot.
